We are delighted to announce that J.K.Rowling herself has generously donated a full collection of personally signed Harry Potter books. Six of these will be auctioned and one raffled during the conference. All proceeds will go to the National Literacy Trust; Accio's chosen charity.

WELCOME

Following from the success of Accio 2005, we are pleased to announce a new Accio conference for 2008!

Accio 2008 is a conference in the United Kingdom about all things related to Harry Potter.

From Quidditch Flyers to Dreaming Spires:
Exploring the Worldwide Influence of the Harry Potter Novels

25 - 27 July 2008
Magdalen College, Oxford

Accio 2008 seeks to enhance the appreciation of J.K. Rowling’s novels as works of literature in her home country. Paper presentations, roundtables, moderated panels, debates and workshops will evoke a lively, interesting and thoughtful discussion on the changes the Harry Potter novels have already made to our world, and on the potential for the novels to have a lasting influence.

The conference will feature guest speakers, formal programming sessions and informal opportunities for delegates to get to know one another and the city of Oxford. A banquet will be held in Magdalen College’s magnificent Dining Hall on the evening of Saturday 26 July.

Due to space constraints, conference attendance will be limited to the first 150 registrants. The registration system will close once we reach capacity. We encourage interested delegates to register early to avoid disappointment.

To get you in the mood, we have a limited stock of the proceedings of Accio 2005 on CD. These are available for the bargain price of £5 + £1 Postage by Paypal only by clicking on the 'Buy Now' button below.
