Abstract of Paper to be Presented at Accio 2008
Mandragora Rowlingiensis versus Mandragora Officinalis - The Same Plant?
Ruth Rickersfeld
In "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" J. K. Rowling used the
Mandrake as a vital part in the plot. She described
the plant in relative detail, along with its care, use and dangers. Since it is in the
magical world, we cannot be sure everything is as we are used to.
It is interesting to compare the Mandragora officinarum (the Muggle
plant) with Mandragora rowlingiensis. So follow me into the depth of the
magic, legend and the facts about one of the most mystical plants on
this planet.
