Magical Musical Manifestations: A Literary Look at Wizard Rock

In the Harry Potter series, music takes centre stage during balls and holiday celebrations. In the last years, appreciation for the series has taken a musical form, known as Wizard Rock. Many bands make up this new musical scene, as they network on websites, record albums and play at local bookstores. We will take a literary look at the song lyrics written by Wizard Rockers, J.K. Rowling and Jarvis Cocker for the Weird Sisters in order to understand how the songs describe certain chosen aspects of wizarding life. Participants will be invited to try their hand at songwriting.
